5 reasons you should add this MotoDiscovery feature destination to your bucket list
The South American continent offers a wealth of adventure riding treasures. We’ve been riding there since 1995, and by far the most popular region is the southern reaches of Chile and Argentina known as Patagonia.
Technically it is bound by the Atlantic Ocean to the East the Pacific to the West, sandwiching the Andean mountain range, a stunning system of fjords with temperate rainforests, glacial lakes, and barren windswept grasslands. It is this exact dynamic that offers you a thrilling motorcycle riding experience, unlike any other on the planet.
Here are 5 good reasons why you should add this Patagonia motorcycle tour to your bucket list:Read More

Iceland Backcountry ADV Motorcycle Tour
A more challenging, rewarding and memorable MotoDiscovery Icelandic adventure riding experience
The Iceland ADV Backcountry Tour is rated as ADVENTURE + and is one of our more intense off-road riding offerings. Participants must be experienced off-road riding enthusiasts with better than average skills, physicality and prior exposure to the multitude of motorcycle riding environments one can encounter in the enduro and ADV touring world. Riders can expect varying degrees of riding challenges from river and stream crossings to rocky terrain accessing some of Icelands most beautiful and less traveled areas of the island. No camping will be a part of this unique motorcycle adventure however in some cases, accommodations will be primitive. Single occupancy accommodations will only occasionally be available therefore expect to share rooms on some occasions.
There will be full support with a vehicle following riders when and where possible and guided by locals along with our Iceland born MotoDiscovery staff team. Motorcycles will be the aggressive KTM 690 Adventure and its cousin, the Husqvarna 701, perfect for those who wish to have a higher level of performance to meet the demands of the road. For those who like an even more aggressive lighter bike we will have KTM 450 dual sport available. If you’ve tackled the roads of Americas Backcountry Discovery Routes, or a veteran Baja rider, you’ll find the Iceland ADV Backcountry Tour to be as exciting a ride as you will find anywhere in the world, accented with stunning scenery, heart pounding challenges and riding thrills. This ride is not for the inexperienced rider. Groups will be limited to 10 participants plus staff. Iceland has a very narrow riding season which means high demand and some urgency in making early reservations to secure your position on the tour.

How difficult are the roads?
We categorize this tour as ADVENTURE+, however road conditions are not necessarily challenging for an experienced enduro enthusiast with off road experience and acceptable physicality. Expect a mix of good gravel roads of varying condition with off road segments consisting mostly rough gravel and numerous water crossings. We recommend rider training such as the popular MotoDiscovery Moab Immersion Training Tour.
Is this a good tour for a passenger?
No, this is not a suitable ride for a passenger.
Do I use my own motorcycle?
No, this is a tour on rented bikes unless you have your bike in Iceland.
How is the weather?
Iceland in summer can range in temperature from 30’s to the 70’s so be prepared for some chilly days and rain is to be expected in the highlands.
How long are the riding days?
Days are relatively short with opportunities to add and explore Iceland farther.
Is it safe?
Traveling in an unfamiliar area where cultures, customs and societies are different from your own, can be a challenge for some. Risks associated with this kind of travel are to be expected. Motorcycling does have its inherent dangers. We would consider this a safe tour under the circumstances.
For all international tours we recommend that everyone take advantage of the State Department’s Smart Travellers Program. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Click the link below to enroll.
What is the meal program?
Due to the wilderness we will be travelling though we will be bringing most of our meals and will cook out together. We will have first class food and the best the remote nature allows. All meals are included on riding days.
How are the hotels?
Iceland’s interior has few options for the high class standard of Motodiscovery but we will sleep well in the mountain huts and accomodation in the highlands. When we can we stay at the best available hotels each location has to offer.
Will there be a support vehicle?
Yes, there will be a vehicle that follows us with provisions and luggage.
Will you carry our luggage?
The support vehicle has plenty of space to carry your gear. Pack light and only what you need we still need to be aware of the space. Most of the time we recommend a waterproof duffle bag that we carry in the support vehicle.
When should I sign up?
NOW. Iceland is a very popular destination. We recommend at least 6 months advance sign up so you need to secure your spot as soon as you can. Dates are subject to change.
