- Riding along the trail of Father Junipero Serra, the Sierra
Gorda offers some of Mexico's finest motorcycling roads. Rising
from an arid desert encircled by jagged towering mountains
you will soon be in cool pine forests. A descent to the tropical
eastern slopes of the region inhabited by the Huasteca Indians
will no doubt be counted as one of your most spectacular rides.
- Xilitla (sh-leet-la) is a small village in the Sierra Gorda.
The enchanting jungle art of Las Pozas, the creation of eccentric
English nobleman Edward James (1907-1984), is one of those
bizarre encounters that make international travel so fun and
interesting.
- The Hacienda Santa Engracia has been a favorite stop of ours since 1986. It is an authentic relic of the 17th century that provides the perfect Old Mexico setting for your final night south of the Rio Grande.
